[012] Accidental Voice
[Temari only brings her journal along to the kitchen because she doesn't like to be out of touch. Had she known it would fall open and start recording at the least opportune time, she would have left it in her apartment.
There's a series of clanging and clanking, shattering glass, and a startled exclamation from Temari. There's silence for a moment, then another loud clank followed by a soft yelp.
... Dinner is pretty much a bust.]

You check the fridge? [He shakes the glass to the back of the dust pan as he rises so nothing falls out, walking over to dump it in the trash.] There's probably something in there you can salvage.
[action]
Yeah, there's a few things in there. [She starts mopping up some red sauce on the counter.] I think I'll stick to what I know. This trying new things schtick isn't quite working out for me.
[action]
...might be because you waited a year to give it a shot.
[action]
Har har. You're just oozing with humor and advice.
[action]
You forgot my patient and helping nature. It's not usually like me, but I guess it's one of those days.
[action]
What would I ever do without you?
[action]
Get bored and find someone else to taunt, probably.
[It's in the second cupboard he finds what he's looking for - a small stack of index cards.] If you're done with that, sit down already.
[action]
[action]
[You know. Unless you want something growing new things...]
[action]
[action]
[He lifts one index card between his fingers and flashes it at her as he opens the freezer. There's a recipe scribbled across it in someone else's handwriting.]
[action]
[But she'll snatch that card out of his fingers and start reading. Yeah, yeah, simple enough.
... They all seem simple enough when you first look at them, though. Then in ten minutes flat, one is feeling harried and overwhelmed by pots of ingredients with aspirations to become food.]
[action]
[Sort of a compliment. Sort of. But notice he did ask her to sit. There is a reason for that.
He pulls some chicken out of the freezer and goes to fire up the over.]
I'm gonna need that back, by the way. Unless you want to wait longer than thirty minutes.
[action]
[action]
He wasn't kidding - it will take about thirty minutes. The chicken has to bake, and in the meantime he makes a small salad with some spiced vegetables, and finds some bread to fluff up. It's nothing fancy though.
There's an apple glaze in the recipe for the chicken too... usually he doesn't bother with it because he doesn't really care. But he has time to burn
and that's the only reason, obviously, so he figures he may as well.He works quietly throughout this, not because he doesn't want to talk or anything, but he's actually trying to pay attention to what he's doing. That'll change once he starts plating the food up.]
[action] You're horrible and I love it.
Feeling domestic?
[It's actually really... sweet, Nara. She appreciates it.]
[action] I couldn't help it. XD
[It's partially true. Really, he doesn't know why he bothered other than to say he did it on a whim. But oh well. He puts the glaze on the chicken and brings the plate over.] Here.
[action] It was beatiful. She would have killed him.
Nice of you. Thanks. [See? She can be nice.]
[action] Which is why it could only exist as a joke tag.
[He moves to sit before remembering that he didn't grab anything to drink. Whoops.] Aa... you okay with soda?

[He pokes at his food a little lazily before eating. Tea he might not be able to do, and he doesn't have the patience for anything extravagant, but he's come a long ways in the last year. Points for not needing an Akimichi around to feed himself anymore?]
[action]
[action]
Just don't tell anyone. They'd expect me to do it more often, and that'd be troublesome.
